Everybody loves a pool, well most people and animals minus cats of course. They look great. They are fun. Pools are also a lot of work. There are some considerations to be made before jumping ‘all in’. (See what I did there?)
The pools, the concepts, the filters and more are laid out in a great article that you may read here.
Once you have the basic ideas of what you want, there’s more to the story. You will need a clear, level area in your yard – a retaining wall over four foot requires a permit. According to most building codes you will need a fence (permit required) or at least a lockable ladder. The electric to supply the power for the pump must be buried and installed by a licensed electrician.
Ok so now the pool is in. Great! Time to close it up this year and be ready for next year. (Just kidding) Jump in and enjoy it!
Now that you have your pool there are other considerations to be had. Do you need a deck around your pool? Concrete around your pool? Where will you store you pool supplies, toys, rafts, noodles, equipment and chemicals?
How bout when people need to use the restroom? Do you need a bathroom constructed in your basement? What about storage of wet swimming suits. I know one person that hangs theirs on an old metal hanger but that really only works for one wet bathing suit at a time.
Please don’t think I am not saying don’t buy a pool, only that there are a lot of considerations to be discussed.
If you are looking into a pool in the St. Louis, St. Louis County or St. Charles County Area I highly recommend R & S Pool and Spas. Their knowledge is amazing and are hands down one of the best in the area.
