The remodeling industry can be very confusing when one casually looks in from the outside.
The multitude of Television shows delving into the remodeling industry is staggering. Each with their common outline of
a) there is a project needing to be done.
b) they jump headfirst into the project without a single thought.
c) they realize past the point of return that there is a much larger issue (project) involved.
d) they don’t have any idea how they are going to fix it or meet their deadline.
e) in the last five minutes of the show they open the door and everything is magically awesome!
I can easily understand why homeowners get confused because those shows drive me crazy.
A proper remodeling project or repair requires an experienced professional evaluating the task or project at hand. After the evaluating their recommendation closely follows a Scope of Work (SOW).
A Scope of Work is a detailed PLAN on what is going to take place during the remodel or repair.
Homeowners deserve to have access to remodeling contractors that have a process in place BEFORE a single nail is altered on your home.
Once a great Scope of Work is in place – it’s just a matter of paying attention to the details.
