With all the shows on the television that claim they are providing kitchen remodels in a day – I wanted to take a moment of your time and clear the air.
Kitchen remodeling starts weeks, if not months ahead of the project start date. There is no realistic way that someone can walk into a showroom, pick our cabinets, counters, flooring, sinks, faucets, backsplash, lighting, appliances, hardware and more expecting it to be there the next day.
The product choices alone takes a multitude of time by you, my sales team and myself to fit into the entire scope of your kitchen remodeling project.
We start with the initial kitchen layout and design so that it functions at a high level for many years as well as maximizes storage. Your colors, wood species along with drawer and door style is up to you and your budget.
Once we have the cabinets picked out then we are able to move towards picking the other important items of your kitchen remodel.
At minimum Benhardt Construction recommends that cabinets, counters and flooring selections are decided upon. Once these big three are confirmed, which at this point may easily have taken weeks to come to the decision, our cost proposal and contract can be drawn up and written. Then I am able to order the big three and get the ball rolling.
Cabinets take from 5-8 weeks to be built and shipped to St. Louis.
Once I know the cabinets are within a week of delivery we can then initiate the project by starting the demolition phase as counters are real close and flooring is already waiting for me at ProSource of St. Louis.
Once demolition is complete, the sub floor will be screwed down and the underlayment required by our flooring will be installed. In the mean time our cabinets will be delivered to your home and stored in the garage safely inside cardboard boxes.
The flooring will be installed and the countertop people will be given notice to be ready for a call to come measure.
Once our flooring is available for foot traffic after installation our base cabinets will be installed.
The countertop measuring will already be scheduled and as they are fabricating the counters the wall cabinets will be installed along with new base molding trim.
Our counters are installed and the next day our plumbing connections are made.
We now have an operational kitchen!
All that is left to do is install the new light fixtures, backsplash and hardware on the cabinets. So about another week and Benhardt Construction will have completed another kitchen remodeling project.
